Liberia have progressed to the semi-finals of the WAFU Nations Cup Plate competition after a 1-0 victory over Niger at the Stade Lat Dior in Thies, Senegal.

Kelvin Potis’ lone goal in the 25th minute became the ultimate decider as the Lone Star refused to bid goodbye to the tournament.

Niger could have gotten the opener in the 7th minute, by shot stopper Alpha Jalloh used his magical hands to deny his opponents from taking an early lead.

Coach Robert Lartey made three changes in his previous lineup that saw his side lost 1-0 against Sierra Leone by introducing Benjamin Doe and Varney Sando in the midfield and Josephus Mantor in the center defense.

Forward Potis was rewarded with the Man of the Match award for his performance.

Meanwhile, Liberia will now face Guinea in the semi-finals of the Plate Competition on October 9, 2019.

The Plate Competition comprises teams that lost in phase-one knockout round of the 16 nations tournament.
