It was not a good start for Liberia at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations for amputee Football after the Amputee Lone Star suffered a 1-0 defeat against Nigeria on Friday, October 4, at the Nac Benguela Stadium in Angola.
According to sports journalist, Sylvester Tamba, who traveled with the team, Liberia had a better performance on the pitch as they dominated ball possession and made more attempts on goal, but were unlucky to convert those chances into goals.
The amputee Lone Star will be hoping to recover from their defeat when they take on Tanzania on Saturday, October 5, in their second match.
Six teams, including Liberia, hots and world champions Angola, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Tanzania will participate in this year’s Amputee AFCON championship from October 4-11.
The best out of the six teams will emerged as champions after round robin encounters.
Liberia are the defending champions. They have won the last three out of four editions.
